Peace Alliance's Community Peacebuilding Team Lead J Thompson, activist and leader Emerald Garner, and Etan Thomas as we explore the real stories of support and community with folks who have suffered trauma through the loss of a loved one from violence (often in custody of the carceral system) and how they cope in community with each other. We will welcome stories from people directly impacted by violence whose trauma captured national attention, speaking on their pursuit of peace and the platforms that amplify these stories. How do we build peace while the same state sanctioned violence continues? Our speakers illuminated their journey of creating peace after the cameras and spotlight are gone and speak into their needs for navigating the justice system and finding healing, if possible.
