We were delighted to have James Baraz join us, and invite us to be the calm person in the boat! We have a choice — we can be afraid, or we can choose a more empowering path. James is a founding teacher at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, and co-author of “Awakening Joy: Ten Steps to Happiness,” also leading a popular online course by that name (www.awakeningjoy.info). Please join us during James’ opening meditation and continuing to share stories. We are continuing these weekly Hope Story Circles every Saturday for the next four weeks. We were very fortunate that our Board President, Terry Mason, a highly trained professional guide in the manifestation of intentions. On this call, we created opportunities for callers to generate momentum together towards their highest goals for themselves and for all life. Our January Guest, Jhody Polk, is a Peacebuilding Phenomenon. While spending 7 years incarcerated, she pursued a legal education working in the prison library, and in 2018 became a Soros Fellow - working to share that empowering education with other jailhouse lawyers and law clerks in prisons throughout the US. Meanwhile as a Peace Builder with the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding, Jhody facilitates Community and Restorative Justice among marginalized communities of color and incarcerated populations in Florida. Her activities and achievements go on and on, and we are thrilled she joined us Tuesday!
We discussed the intersection of Peace and Justice, and how we can all bring more of both into our local communities!
